Project Overview
Since January 2026, we have been working in partnership with Taylor Wimpey on a major residential development in Mickleover, Derby. The project comprises the construction of over 350 housing plots and is scheduled as a five-year development programme. Our role is to provide comprehensive scaffolding solutions throughout all phases of construction, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant access systems that support the evolving demands of the site.
The Challenge
The scale and duration of the development required a robust scaffolding strategy capable of supporting multiple work fronts simultaneously while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and adaptability. The project's timber-frame construction methodology introduced additional requirements for specialist access solutions and material handling systems beyond conventional progressive scaffolding arrangements.
Our Solution
A system scaffolding approach was adopted to maximise efficiency, consistency, and installation speed across the development. This was complemented by bespoke scaffold design elements tailored to specific construction requirements and site constraints.
Key scaffold provisions include:
Timber frame scaffolding systems supporting residential plot construction.
Bespoke scaffold designs, including specialist truss rack structures for the safe storage and handling of roof trusses.
Loading bays to facilitate efficient material distribution across the site.
Multiple working lifts to provide safe access at all construction stages.
Staircase safety guard systems for edge protection and fall prevention.
Waste chutes to support site housekeeping and material disposal.
Table lifts and material handling platforms to improve operational efficiency.
Stair tower access systems and ladder access solutions.
Kicker lifts and hop-up platforms for specialist work activities.
Remedial access towers for maintenance and corrective works.
